BAM
Well they picked the 13th to play and right away we knew there was something fishy about Damp Sushi! Hmmm….we considered an all scout defense by just spamming the area with caltrops and see if we get a bite! The game began with only 4 sushis….3 on defense and a shark of a medic on offense. At first, we thought great, it’s Offense against Defense here as this sole medic died making a desperate attempt at the flag. Oh well, I thought, perhaps my level3 SG needs a polish, looks like a slow night down here, when all of a sudden…… a WHISK! went by, my SG hummed for a second, then I heard…. "the enemy has your flag!" WHAT???? Was that whisk a FLYING MEDIC??? I rushed to intercept when I was hurled across the room as that whisk went whisking on back the way it came in before my SG could burp up a round. Fortunately our upper defense managed to stop any further advance. It was then we realized that this lonesome sushi was really a bunny in disguise. He could hop like he invented the BHOP! We looked for our Bhop member to compare jump lengths but =WaR=Havoc was out of commission! He’s the only one on our team that can Bhop, but tonight he wasn’t playing. Their 5th member came in half way in the match but still not enough to pull our flag out and our lead just gained a little slower. It was a game that gave us a big clue what to expect in the next map, as the round ended 50-0 our favour.
OPENFIRE
This was Sushi’s best map, and still is after they showed us how it was possible to leave their base and cruise at approx 12 feet altitude and 118 mph! Piping the switch did no good, the 2 enemy medics Bhopped so fast that trying to det the pipes before they touch the switch was a joke. It was carte blanch for Sushi as they slashed their soy sauce all over our base and made those fish faces at us as they took off with our flag!….it was hopeless trying to stop those sub sonic flights, so instead we decided to lay a huge rat trap (a level3 SG) and go all offense. This kept their offense back in their base as they were probably thinking " hmmm 1,2,3,4,5 =WaR=’s?? who’s at home watching the flag???" Who cares, we realized by then that there was no way keeping those rabbits out and hoped to just out cap them. We were down 100-20 at that time and although we began to catch up, time ran out on us at 110-60 Sushi favour.
(There was one Sushi who only mission in life for half the game was to go Demo and lay pipes right outside the upper /battlement supply room door hoping to kill as we exited, hehehehe if only this poor fish realized that it’s possible to only spawn in one supply room. LOL I haven’t seen this strat before, probably because it really doesn’t pay, tsk tsk tsk naughty, naughty, naughty)
CROSSOVER2
We thought, "ok…this needs to end here!" We did not expect to go 3 rounds. We immediately took the lead and held it at 60-30…for about a minute that is. This game was so intense as each team slowly but surely, pulled one cap out simultaneously, one after the other. Sushi then changed their offense to combat our set up and it paid off very well for them. We believed it would be too late for them to make this change and sat tight when they pulled 2 caps out very quickly and took the lead at 90-100. The Bhop did not affect us as much in this round and credit has to be given for some of the great basement concs they managed from anywhere in the pit. We blew it…we got too used to our old ways without changes and failed to adapt to their change in offense, thus rendering our defense a little less effective, as they began pulling more caps than we and ending the game 100-120 Sushi favour. I think both teams felt the hearts pounding during the last 10 minutes of this match…it could have gone either way, it was a great end to a hard fought match.
SUMMARY
Although there have been heated debates and opinions concerning bunny hopping and the unfair advantage it creates, we at Team =WaR= would like to make this official statement; If the league allows it, it’s fair game. We did not Bhop that night only because we didn’t know how to. That said, I wish to congratulate Damp Sushi for an excellent demonstration of their TFC abilities and the fair win they accomplished.
